Waffle Workshopin Bruges
A cosy Belgian waffle class inside a 300-year-old Bruges town house, 15 minutes' walk from the Grote Markt.

A local, Belgian, hands-on thing to do in Bruges
Bruges is a city you walk, and after a few hours of cobblestones most visitors are looking for something to do in Bruges that is warm, sitting down and still authentically Belgian. Making your own waffles in a 300-year-old town house on Ezelstraat is exactly that: a 90-minute hands-on cooking activity where the medieval city becomes the backdrop instead of the itinerary.
It works particularly well as an activity to do with kids in Bruges. There are no knives, no cooking skills required and no chance of boredom — children mix, pour, press and then build ridiculous towers of cream, fruit and chocolate. Families regularly tell us it was the part of the trip their kids talk about afterwards, and at least one paying adult always accompanies the children.
It is also the classic answer to what to do in Bruges when it rains. Canals look romantic in the rain for roughly ten minutes; a warm brick room that smells of caramelised batter holds up considerably longer. Adults can book the Tipsy version with local Belgian beers, and private Bruges waffle workshops are available for groups, hen parties and company outings.

Meeting point
Ezelstraat 98, 8000 Bruges
- On foot: about 15 minutes from the Grote Markt and about half an hour from Bruges train station — but the walk is wonderful and takes you through the prettiest streets of Bruges.
- By car: you can usually find space in the street (buy a ticket from the parking meter). If the street is full, there is an underground paid car park nearby on Ezelstraat.
- Please don't arrive more than 10 minutes early. If you're in the neighbourhood sooner, we can't recommend a coffee or a glass of wine at our neighbour Cavelia enough.
Right around the corner
- Grote Markt and the Belfry — 15 minutes on foot
- Sint-Janshuismolen windmills along the canal
- Jan van Eyck square and the old Hanseatic quarter
- Bruges train station — around 30 minutes on foot, or a short bus ride

“Really enjoyed the experience. Our host was engaging and was forgiving when my sons made lots of mistakes as they failed to listen to instructions. We made 20 waffles between us and really enjoyed exploring the toppings. Would recommend for all — couples, solos and families.”
“We had so much fun! We brought our 4 small children and they were very family friendly. The instructions were clear and they helped us have a fantastic experience! And of course the Brussels style waffles were delicious. Highly recommend!”
“My boyfriend and I had a great time and met some really great people as well! The host was really funny and also knowledgable. He taught us a lot about waffles and the different types and how the locals eat their waffles which was interesting.”
“Last minute fuss free online registration on Christmas morning. One of the fun activities that anyone can do on Christmas Day where most retails are closed. Wonderful fun friendly instructor. Remember not to eat before class as it's an eat all you can waffle session!”
